"Iorana and welcome to Easter Island Tours.

My name is Poike Riroroko and I am from one of the most untouched, mysterious places on the planet - Easter Island.

If you are wanting to experience something truly special, please contact myself for the trip of a lifetime.

I take tour groups back to my homeland 3 times a year. I have taken tour groups in the past years from all over, Tahiti, Australia and New Zealand, and because of the tremendous feedback I have received, I would like more people to share this truly wonderful experience, something which you will cherish forever."

At the south eastern tip of the Polynesian triangle lies windswept Easter Island, one of the most remote spots on the planet. Surrounded by an endless ocean as blue as the sky and located 2,300 miles west of Santiago, Chile, this tiny dot of land is sixty square miles of rocky grasslands, extinct volcanic cones, and steep ocean cliffs.

Called Te Pito o te Henua and Rapa Nui by the Polynesian people who live here, this island is a unique open-air archaeological museum. Nearly a thousand immense stone statues, called moai, gaze over the gently rolling hills and the Pacific Ocean.

Easter Island Tours do three packaged group trips spread throughout the year to Easter Island.

Tours depart from Auckland and are usually 5 days in length.  The most popular trip is to the wonderful Tapati Festival a celebration of the Rapa Nui culture which occurs at the height of the summer season, the end of January / first of February.

Each day will dawn with new and exciting contests of strength and skill, while evenings will bring the mesmerizing melodies of Polynesian music as grass skirted dancers perform beneath the stars. It is a time of revelry and feasts, and of honouring the past with some truly beautiful and hypnotic performances of traditional Rapanui song and dance.

The Tapati Festival features native dance, chant, and song, and competitions such as horse racing, woodcarving, fishing, kai kai (string figures), traditional body decoration, a parade, and a queen contest. The festival has become so popular that it has now been extended into a two-week event.
